Lead For Good Africa hosted the third edition of its STEAM Summer Camp, themed “Rooted and Rising.” This year’s theme reminded us that young people need strong foundations to grow and thrive. Participants were encouraged to root themselves in positive values, strong character, discipline, curiosity, and purpose while rising toward new possibilities and opportunities.
The success of the programme would not have been possible without the contributions of sponsors, facilitators, volunteers, parents, guardians, the dedicated Lead for Good Africa team, and our partners, Oracle Nigeria, Marigold Global Foundation, and Early Founders Lab.
The 12-day camp brought together 49 teenagers from Ajangbadi, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria, and surrounding communities for an immersive experience focused on learning, creativity, mentorship, leadership development, foundational coding, and digital skills.
The camp was designed to:
-Strengthen positive character traits among participants.
-Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
-Introduce participants to coding and computational skills.
-Improve digital literacy and responsible use of the internet.
-To foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving
To make the learning experience interactive and engaging, participants were encouraged to ask questions, share their opinions, collaborate with one another, participate in challenges, and apply what they learned to situations in their everyday lives.
One of the major highlights of the Rooted & Rising Summer Camp 2026 was an experiential visit to the Oracle Nigeria office, which was one of the major highlights of the programme. The visit brought together 40 teenagers and a total of 51 participants, including the programme team, facilitators and Oracle representatives.
The visit was designed to allow participants to connect their learning from the STEAM programme with real-world experiences. It also provided an opportunity for the teenagers to gain firsthand exposure to a professional technology environment and see how the skills they were developing could translate into future opportunities.
The testimonials shared by participants and parents were a meaningful reminder of the purpose behind the programme:

Overall, the third edition of the Rooted and Rising STEAM Summer Camp reinforced Lead For Good Africa’s commitment to equipping young people with the skills, mindset, and resources they need to thrive.
